  Radio TV

Both Nicoleta Cranganu (Viata Libera) and Catalin Negoita (TV Express) were briefed informally, with a view to our being informed on the relevance and/or attractiveness of the project topic for the general public. As a result, Mr. Negoita has agreed to take the initiative a step further and suggested the starting of a monthly 30 min. TV broadcast on the project theme and findings. At present, we are negotiating this series of broadcasts for the coming year. With reference to the Viata libera local newspaper, negotiations are also being conducted with an end to including several articles under the Culture section of the publication. 28-29/06/2006

EXPRESS TV: Terminus Express.Topic: Invatamantul superior in perspectiva aderarii Romaniei la Uniunea Europeana (Higher Education and Romania’s Integration in the European Union). The broadcast consisted in a half-hour talk with Michaela Praisler on the Faculty’s research activities and administrative issues, the SAL project included (objectives, anticipated results, targets). 29/03/2006.

  Exhibitions/events

Exhibition for Zilele Galatiului: The exhibition took place on the 27th of November, in the Main Hall of the Faculty of Letters and Theology and consisted in a display of materials regarding the SAL project. A greater number of students were thus informed on the existence, the objectives and the activities of the project and on the availability of the UGAL research team to include new perspectives on and contributions to the SAL project. 27/11/2006

Dissemination workshop with MA students and undergraduates: The dissemination workshop took place in the LF1 (Phonetic Lab 1) of the Faculty of Letters and Theology and included 10 participants, all of them being MA students and undergraduates. They were briefed on the interests of the project and the coming activities to take place and were encouraged to come with suggestions, to be part of the project in an active way. The results: info about the concert to be held by Puya (a well-known Romanian hip hop artist) in Braila on the 15th of December 2006 and the local hip hop bands in Braila and Galati willing to collaborate with the UGAL research team. 29/11/2006.

Flyer: Hip-hop concert,Club S, Galati, Romania The flyers were distributed on Friday night, preceding, during and after the concert held by Parazitii, one of the most famous hip hop bands in Romania. As mentioned in the Report on selected activities, 64 students answered the invitation and participated in a discussion on the concert. As mentioned in the flyer, the meeting took place in Club S on Monday, the 23rd of October 2006. The main topics that generated debates and controversies were: the Romanian hip hop community (both artists and fans), the “sharing-life-experience” phenomenon, contaminated vs. authentic hip hop, the almost fully-fledged ‘jargon’ which distinguishes them from ‘the rest of the crowd’, the exclusivist attitude of hip-hoppers, and their revolt against being discriminated on different grounds. Open debate/workshop on hip-hop at the Wall, Galati, Romania: The wall is a public meeting place of members of different taste subcultures among which hip-hoppers. It is situated on the bank of the Danube. The open debate included 48 participants and focused on: the Romanian hip hop community, the “sharing-life-experience” phenomenon, contaminated vs. authentic hip hop artists, the almost fully-fledged ‘jargon’ which distinguishes them from ‘the rest of the crowd’, the exclusivist attitude of hip-hoppers, their revolt against being discriminated on different grounds.
